Robbers target Marburg service station
The armed men fled with cash and cigarettes.

Armed robbers targeted a service station in Marburg on February 26 at about 21:00. A video clip shows a white Honda with a NX registration arriving at the service station and four men exiting the vehicle. Three of the men entered the convenience store while the fourth man stood outside.
Saps Ugu District Communications said a case of business robbery was opened for investigation at Port Shepstone Saps. “It is alleged that at least four men, three of whom were armed entered the convenience store and took cash and cigarettes. They then fled in their getaway vehicle. No shots were fired and no one was harmed.”
A description of the getaway vehicle was circulated and personnel from two security companies at Park Rynie spotted it at about 23:00 and gave chase.
On being pursued, the suspects turned south and lost control of the vehicle at the Mtwalume off-ramp, where it overturned.
“It is further alleged that a shootout occurred and one suspect was fatally wounded. The three other suspects fled the scene,” said police.
Firearms and ammunition were recovered on the scene. An inquest has been opened for investigation as well as a possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Investigation are continuing.
