Law enforcement officers enjoy wellness day in Port Shepstone
The event helped to improve mood, reduce stress and boost self-esteem.
Wellness days for law enforcement officers are comprehensive events designed to support the physical, mental and emotional health of personnel.
A wellness day held recently included Ray Nkonyeni Municipal Law Enforcement, Correctional Services and Road Traffic Inspectorate (RTI).
The event included various sporting activities such as aerobics, volleyball, netball, soccer and indigenous games which was held at St Martin De Porres school grounds.
Bulelani Sonjica from Correctional Services said the day was a huge success as about 90 officials were in attendance.
“Correctional Services was led by me as head of the centre, RTI by principal provincial inspector Nompumelelo Ntobela and Law Enforcement by Superintendent Sfiso Ngcaku. Unions including Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union and Department of Public Service and Administration were also invited to give words of support. Workers Life insurance, Old Mutual and Assupol were also in attendance. All in attendance raised one voice of unity and said that these events must carry on, hoping that Saps will be present next time as they had other commitments on the day.”
