South Coast women explore self-care

The event offered practical guidance and meaningful conversation around intentional living.

Women from the South Coast recently gathered for an inspiring and informative Self-Care Conference at the Umdoni Sports and Leisure Centre, Pennington.

The event was hosted by Bloom Health & Beauty Spa, and offered practical guidance and meaningful conversation around intentional living.

Support your wellbeing

The opening was done by spa owner Laverne de Jager, who explained that true self-care is about putting structures in place that support your wellbeing physically, financially and emotionally.

“When we care for ourselves intentionally, everything else in our lives functions better,” she said.

The programme that followed reflected that philosophy through a series of engaging and practical sessions designed to empower attendees with real tools for everyday life.

There was a makeup demonstration by Lea du Preez from Mooiste Meisie, who shared simple techniques for day to night wear and tips to enhance natural beauty while encouraging confidence and authenticity.

Planning with purpose

Scottfin CEO Debbie Holroyd presented a session titled Planning with Purpose, exploring the powerful link between financial stability and emotional wellbeing.

Physical wellbeing followed with Bernadette de Klerk’s energising presentation, Strength for Life. Rather than focusing on extreme fitness goals, she emphasised sustainable habits – movement, preventative healthcare and stress management – that support longevity and resilience.

Local community leader Kirsty Pope introduced all to the power of strategic meal planning, offering practical strategies for structuring weekly meals, simplifying grocery shopping and maintaining energy through balanced nutrition.

Healthy cooking

Award winning chef Kayla-Ann Osborn delivered a live cooking demonstration. She prepared simple, nutritious dishes using fresh local produce, demonstrating how accessible healthy cooking can be.

The morning also celebrated creativity and community spirit. A highlight of the event was the auction of a striking piece of artwork by local artist Bev Carter, generously donated in support of Tidy Towns Pennington.

The organisers thank sponsors, as well as all attendees and special guests for making this a memorable and inspiring day for all.
