Colour run in Umtentweni to celebrate Autism Acceptance Month
Families are encouraged to bring children along, and dogs on leashes are also welcome to join in the fun.
The community is invited to lace up their running shoes and take part in a vibrant Autism Acceptance Colour Run from the Tweni Centre in Umtentweni on Saturday, April 4, in celebration of International Autism Awareness Month.
Hosted by The Local Loop, the 5km colour run aims to bring friends and families (children and dogs on leads) together in a fun and inclusive way while showing support for individuals on the autism spectrum.
The event will start at 08:00, and everyone is encouraged to come dressed in white or blue, ready to be splashed with colour along the route.
The family-friendly event promises a festive atmosphere with music, refreshments and treats, including cupcakes and milkshakes, while participants can also expect a colourful experience as powdered paint will be safely squirted from bottles along the route.
“April is Autism Acceptance Month, and this event is a way for the community to show that individuals on the autism spectrum will never walk alone,” said Hayley Anderson, founder of The Local Loop.
Adding to the excitement, the event falls over the Easter weekend, and attendees can keep an eye out for hidden Easter eggs along the trail.
