Health outreach clinic in Marburg treats 163 patients

The clinic not only provided essential healthcare services, but also reinforced the importance of giving back to the community.

Port Shepstone Rotary Club in collaboration with the Port Shepstone Sai Centre, hosted a highly successful community health outreach clinic in Marburg on March 15.

The outreach started at 08:30 till 14:00 and it provided much-needed healthcare services to residents of Marburg and surrounding areas.

The clinic welcomed 163 patients who registered, each with the option of consulting with one or more of the volunteer healthcare professionals present.

Services included access to general practitioners, a physician, a dentist, an audiologist, a gynaecologist, physiotherapists, a mammographer, and dieticians.

Attendees included many destitute patients seeking solid medical advice. The kindness, professionalism, and dedication displayed by all volunteers were widely commended.

Rotary typically conducts such outreach clinics every three months, targeting various communities within the region, and this time brought the services closer to

home for Marburg residents.

The success of the day was largely due to the tireless efforts of the club, under the leadership of health director Dr Kanaya Maharaj, who coordinated planning, resources, and logistics to ensure a smooth and effective event.

Equally instrumental were the members of the Sai Centre, who ensured that refreshments and meals were available for both patients and volunteers, as well as preparing the venue.

Special appreciation goes to all the healthcare professionals and volunteers whose dedication made this event possible, including Dr Vishal Maharaj, Dr Kanaya Maharaj, Dr BG Perumal, Dr Lenthuri Naidoo, Dr Karosa Moodley, Dr Ranjiv Dhanraj, Linda Stack, Natalie Quinn, Kivani Sarugessar, Tenille Ragoobar, Rekha Sugudhav, Pranisha Bhooden, and Shamin Maharaj.

This outreach clinic not only provided essential healthcare services but also reinforced the importance of giving back to the community.

The Port Shepstone Rotary Club continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to improving the wellbeing of its local residents through initiatives like this, reminding all of the power of service, compassion, and community.
