Cricket test match ends in rare tie

The match ebbed and flowed in dramatic fashion.

It’s not often a cricket game ends in a tie but the U15 RC Colts (Challengers) and Snipers team managed just that in a Test match last week.

To put this in perspective, there have been only two tied matches in the 150+ year history of Test cricket.

The match was played at Port Shepstone Country Club over two days, with the game ending in the last over of the day, to boot.

The first innings was played with 12 players, all could bat, but only 11 on the field.

Christiaan Otto goes on the attack for Snipers, watched by keeper Sphephelo Mlambo.

The second innings was 11 players although Challengers ended up one short and could only bat up to number 10.

All that aside, it was a gripping game, with the extremely rare result of a tie.

Last man in Matt Evans hit it to Karlo Jacobs off the bowling of Jacques de Bruin.

Then, he had to catch a lift home with the De Bruins, with all smiles driving away from the ground about summing it up.
