In commemoration of Mandela Day last month, uMngeni-uThukela Water teams were hard at work, making a difference across various communities.

The Umzinto Amanzi Champions continued their environmental efforts by conducting a clean-up campaign at the Umzimayi River bank, partnering with local organisations to protect water resources.

The team also visited Nombuso Crèche, where they helped with the children, spreading love and care; created a new garden to promote sustainability and a greener environment; and cleaned the yard and painted to restore and beautify the space.

The champs got their hands dirty with impactful environmental work. They helped with the cleaning and clearing of the garden at Mbalenhle Crèche using slashers and herbicide; and partnered with the agriculture team and clinic staff at Umzinto Fixed Clinic to plant a garden, spray herbicide, and assist with organising files in the clinic’s file room.

These projects were done as part of a week-long celebration.
