Funds raised for surfer

A number of surfers took to the water for a good cause.

A GROUP of enthusiastic surfers took part in the Son Surf School fund-raiser last Saturday. The event was held for SKZN surfer Chanelle Botha, who will be representing South Africa in Ecuador at the ISA world junior champs in April this year.

Team leaders Nathan Broom, Byran Wigmore and Jaydene Blewitt were on hand to encourage young surfers to catch a wave or two.

Son Surf School owner Kyle Maher said that a great response was received from local surfers. “The weather was flawless, the waves were fun, and the water was warm, culminating in the perfect day for the beach. We had three divisions, foamy, intermediate and expression,” said Kyle.

A total amount of R1260 was raised. Anyone who would like to contribute towards Chanelle’s trip can contact Kyle at 071 2323931. She will be leaving for Ecuador at the beginning of April.
