Golfers raise funds for bowlers
>
THE draw for the five fantastic hampers took place at the Interdistrict Players’ Association Fund-raising Golf Day held at Port Shepstone Country Club last Saturday.
The winners were: 1 Neville Philpott; 2 Shane Nienaber; 3 Cyndy McMurtry; 4 Brett Kjonstad; 5 Rose Thompson.
Ninety-four golfers took part and KBA thanks them for their support, as well as the bowlers who manned the holes providing some fun events for the golfers.
Remember to put your entries in for the 2015 greenkeepers/greenrangers pairs which will be held at Margate Bowling Club on Saturday, March 7 in the morning.
The closing date for entries is February 16. Note, there is no entry fee payable. Entry forms and conditions of play are available on the KBA website, www.kingfisherba.weebly.com.

PSCC
THE first round of the business challenge was held last Friday afternoon and was generously sponsored by Fred van Zyl of Auto Exec Cars.
The winners were Jenny Rawlins, Gill Thiele and Len Rossler representing Coastal Cellular with Coastal Cellular’s second team the runners-up, namely Brian Rawlins, Roy Anderson and Charles Murgatroyd.
The Harbour View SuperSpar trips last Sunday was won by Eddie Fann, Howard Frizelle and Caroline Harris. Runners-up were Roy Anderson, Gill Barker and John Williams. Session prize went to Malcolm and Colleen Baker, playing with Martin Frizelle.
The next competition will be the Valentine’s Day pairs. Watch the notice board for this and other competition entry forms.

HIBBERDENE
IN the nominated mixed trips 2-4-2 played last Friday, Dennis Lewis and Joey Venter won the competition. Malky and Isobel McManus came second while Keith Mills and Felicity van Rensburg won the session prize.
A lucky draw was made for the other players which was won by Bruce Hoyer and Cheryl Knight. A big thank you to Mike Hoyer who sponsored the competition.
Please note that this Friday’s competition will not be sponsored by Hibberdene SuperSpar as advertised in the diary.
However, thank you to Lee Barker of Jaxx Restaurant in Tweni for coming forward with a sponsorship, so there will still be a competition.
The Moorivier nominated mixed trips will be played next Wednesday afternoon (11th).

A FRIENDLY reminder that the next Nomad’s game will be at the Village BC this Sunday, February 8 at 8.30am for 9am.
Bring and braai after the game. All bowlers are welcome to join the Nomads.

MUNSTER
THE mixed trips last week was won by Tommie Dry, Margaret Moakes and Ella Smith, followed by Louise Dry, Leone Bloem and Tony Smith.
Second session prize went to Albert and Eileen van der Lith with Rick Harding. Board went to Tommie Dry.
The club will be holding a medieval banquet on March 27. All welcome.
Tabs in on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will be at 2.30pm for 3pm in summer. Visitors welcome.

CONGRATULATIONS to Alfred Shusha, Philip Lotter and Lorraine Wijtman on winning the Wolf Security mixed trips.
Runners-up were Dave Banks, Jokkie van Buuren and Rob Lyle. First session went to Neels Boshoff, Steve Evans and Wynand Bezuidenhout and the second session to Patrick Kirkbright, Cas Benade and Norma Roland. The 50/50 went to Patrick Kirkbright.
Winning a delicious meal at the Fazenda Restaurante 2-4-2 were Nico Mantoan and Bonny Hills.
There will be a farewell after bowls on Thursday, February 12 for vice-president Philip Lotter who is leaving to settle in Knysna later this month.
Members also said farewell to Cas Benade who has left to settle in Limpopo.
There will be Valentine’s Day bowls on Sunday, February 15 at 8.30am for 9am, followed by a braai.
Dress with a dash of red and bring a salad please. A good crowd is expected.

BARRY Payn and Phillipa Rowney won the Indulgence mixed pairs last Friday. Cliff Moakes and Leone Bloem were the runners-up and Estelle Carter and Rob Lyle took the session prize.
Port Edward is hosting eight women’s midweek league teams today (February 5).
Play starts at 9am and spectators are most welcome. Best of luck to all the Kingfisher players taking part in the annual Quadrangular hosted by Port Natal and taking place this weekend.

THE Fruit and Veg 2-4-2 took place last Friday and the winners were Sharon Smith and Hermann Scheinberg from Harry and Madge Nicolson.
First session prize went to Norma Louw and Chummy Smith. Chrissie Chancellor and Eddy Louw took the second session.
The next sponsored competition is Hopden’s Kwikspar open trips tomorrow (Friday, February 6) at 2pm.
Tabs in, teams will be drawn. Casual dress, all welcome.
The club is hosting a Valentine’s Day picnic on C green on Saturday, February 14 at 6pm.
Hampers are available at R150 for two people. Dress code is red and white.
The British Bowlers are coming to Riverside on Monday, February 16 at 1.30pm. All welcome.

WINNERS of the Martins Electronics afternoon were Trevor Heywood, Dennis Morcom, Henry Jacobs and Leza Harris.
Runners-up were Franci Philpott, Norman Slater and Ken MacLarty. Lucky draws went to Yvonne Bausek, Clive Edmundson and Ian Hutton.
The next sponsored day will be the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 tomorrow (February 6).

THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar mixed trips held last Tuesday was won by Dora Vosloo, Helen Proctor and Martiens Olivier.
Runners-up were Mike Berry, Barry Fowler and Joan Fowler. Session prize went to Dave Banks, Trish Steyn and Rob Lyle. Helen Proctor was also lucky and won the 50 /50 prize.

SADLY, Dave Adams died recently and sincere condolences are extended to his family and friends.
The CasaMia/Bell mixed trips was won by Doug Burls, Rick and Joey Roberson. In second place were Brian Sapsford, Peter and Annemarie Giblin.
The session prize was won by Keiron Dacey, Ronel Bourman and Steve O’Moore. Lucky Angela Moorhouse won both the 50/50 and the Powerball draw.
Congratulations to Barbara Fernihough, Hew Hodgson, Dawie Schlebusch and Charles Murgatroyd who came second in the midsummer mixed fours competition and to Daphne Sapsford and her team who were in third place.
The Venture Inn/Jaxx open trips will be played on February 10 and the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours on February 13.
The birthday tea will be on February 14 and there will be a braai after Sunday morning bowls on February 8.

THE dominoes evening held last week Wednesday was a success and enjoyed by all, with John Payn being the overall winner.
The next club event is the Harbour View SuperSpar (in house) mixed pairs tomorrow (February 6).
This will be followed by the J Cee Sounds mixed pairs on February 9 and the Schooners Galley Restaurant 3-2-1 scoring (in house) mixed pairs on February 14.
Members and visitors are reminded that until further notice, the times for afternoon games are tabs in 3pm to start at 3.15pm.

WINNERS of the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 were Barry Christie and Louise Mann followed by Clive Bignell and Chris Haslam. Sessions went to John Sutton and Betty Bolton and to Alan Tyers and Denise Palframan. Shirley Barlow won the 50/50.
The next sponsored competitions are the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on February 10; the Hibiscus Insurance and Financial Brokers’ mixed trips on February 12 with Wingnuts Plumbing mixed 2-4-2 on February 16. DAVE Hume and Leigh Warner won the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday. Runners-up were Ray Martin and Rob Lyle, and second session winners were Andreas van der Linde and Steve Rennie. The 50/50 board went to Mac McKenzie.
KBA midweek games rained out on January 28 will now be played at the scheduled venues on March 4. Next sponsored competition will be the Banners Rest mixed pairs to take place on Friday, February 6.
