Day 4: Black Caps bumble along
It was a lot closer than expected.
FOR a team considered one of the favourites to win the Cricket World Cup, New Zealand’s performance against Scotland today wasn’t over impressive.
Yes, they had the Scots reeling at 12/4 early on, but then they allowed two batsmen to get to 50.
Scotland were all out for 142 but the Black Caps struggled to get across the line.
There were some overly adventurous shots played in the run chase, and in the end the number 9 was out at the wicket.
Not really how Kiwi fans saw the match ending.
For South African fans two things can be taken out of this match:
1 The minnows aren’t that bad, and so our result against Zimbabwe in them getting closer to the score than anticipated wasn’t that poor.
2 New Zealand aren’t that good and appear to have some weak spots.
Scores:
Scotland 142/10
New Zealand 146/7
Next game: Wednesday, February 18 – Afghanistan vs Bangladesh at 5.30am.
