EDDIE Fann represented the district at the prestigious National Masters Singles Championships in Johannesburg. He achieved a bronze medal.
What makes this achievement even more notable is that Eddie has played in the last eight Masters, achieving seven medals – three gold, two silver and three bronze.
The winners of the St Valentine’s Day 2-4-2 were Malcolm and Colleen Baker, followed by Kevin and Lesley Lancaster.
The event received generous sponsorship from Howard Frizelle and Justin Hinchliff.
The monthly bowls business day challenge takes place this Friday, February 20.

The SuperSpar mixed trips was won by Joe Ashworth, John Keppler and Jeannette Offer. Peter Zeirvogel, Steve Rennie and Sariena Zeirvogel were the runners-up and Dan and Hazel Delaney took the second session with Estelle Carter.

WINNERS of the Seventh Heaven men’s pairs were Jokkie van Buuren and Dave Banks, followed by Hedley Meek and Dan Delaney. Second session went to Piet Heunis and Aubrey Hood, and the board to Rick Harding.
The women’s St Valentine’s Day trips was won by Elbe Snyman, Myra Doubell and Fransien van der Merwe, with runners-up Pam Cole-Cook, Gae Gravell and Amorie Schoeler.
Second session went to Jenny Rennie, Jaye Russell and Ann McAllister. Sportsman’s prize was won by Margaret Moakes, Ella Smith and Angie Webb. THE Venture Inn/Jaxx open trips competition was won by Barry Devlin, Keiron Dacey and Steve O’Moore. In second place were Nico and Sandie van Niekerk and Phil Viljoen.
The session prize was won by Brian Porteous, Platon Nixon and Maureen Vorster.
Winners of the Captain’s Anchor mixed fours were Tickey and Denise Nel, Joey Cordier and Kevin Mullen. Second were Gary le Brasse, Ricky Roberson, Willy Knott and Joey Roberson.
The Chicken & Egg Sunday competition was won by Duncan Randall, Inger Mitchell and Val Boshoff. The longest day went to Everal Morrison, Maureen Vorster and Joan Sackett. Margie Randall and Denise Nel were lucky draw winners. The Saturday bonus ball was won by Mada Lindeque.
There will be no tabs in this Saturday as both greens will be in use for the KBA competition, but the usual Sunday morning bowls and braai will take place.

JACQUES Snyman and Sheenagh Dempster won the recently played J Cee Sounds mixed pairs from runners-up Jan Snyman and Winnie Hess.
The session prize was won by Tony Korb and Jenny Graham.
Maddie Linten, George Choromanski and Cynthia Korb won the Schooners Restaurant 3-2-1 scoring trips played last Saturday from second placed Alfrieda Goosen, Dot Maritz and Tony Aveyard.
The St Valentine’s Day bring and braai after the the Schooners Restaurant game of bowls was enjoyed by the members and visitors.
The next event is the 3rd Avenue mixed fours this Friday morning.

The Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips played on February 3 was won by Barbara Fernihough, Susan Fourie and Margaret Douglass with Felicity van Rensburg, June Squires and Tammy Gibbons as runners-up. The session prize went to Cyndy McMurtry, Daphne Hounsel and Una van Eeden.
The South Coast Herald 2-4-2 played on February 2 was won by Keith Mills and Tammy Hammond with Peet van Rooyen and Susan Fourie as runners-up. Session went to Jacques Snyman and Sheenagh Dempster.
The Dr D’Arcy men’s trips will be played on Thursday February 19.
The in house pairs will be played on Monday, February 23.

THE Engel and Volkers second round will take place this Friday morning and there are some interesting clashes coming up. The log leaders at the moment, Denzil Massyn and team will take on second placed Barry Christie’s team.
Graham Gold’s team in third place will play Barry Delvin’s team. Last year’s winners, Ken Tonge’s team (9th) will play Hans Wijtman’s team.

THE nominated mixed trips played last Friday was won by John Mett, John Hodge and Joey Venter. Second place went to Bez Bezuidenhout, Hana Svoboda and Louise Shone.

All the women who spent five days on the Opera had a wonderful time but Fay Patterson and her friend Rita were caught “bunking” the lifeboat drill. They had to so the next morning!
The St Valentine’s Day evening was well attended and the food superb once again. A karaoke evening followed.

WHAT a heart-warming St Valentine’s Day bowls and braai day was had last Sunday. The fun bowls, followed by a delicious braai, was enjoyed by some 60 members, family and friends. Members bade a sad farewell to vice-president, Philip Lotter, last Thursday.
The Stewart Weaving Friendship group will be bowling at the club today (February 19). Those taking part please wear whites and bring a plate of snacks.
Winning the Coffee on the Square women’s trips last Friday were Rosemary Esterhuysen, Jean Dean, Rosalie Bloom. Runners-up were Norma Louw, Olwen Gibbs and Chrissie Chancellor.
