WELL done to the KBA singles champions who braved the weather on Monday this week to play the semis and finals. Once again spectators were treated to some spectacular bowls.
The worthy winner of the men’s open singles was Keith Harcombe from The Bell and the women’s winner was Margate’s Pam Cole-Cook.
The men’s seniors was won by Port Edward’s Barry Payn with Helen Turk winning the women’s seniors.
Results:

Senior men – 1 Barry Payn (Port Edward), 2 Wayne Muller (Port Shepstone), 3 Mike Maudant (AMBC), 4 Jan Snyman (Port Shepstone).
Women seniors – 1 Helen Turk (AMBC), 2 Liesje de Rosner (AMBC), 3 Tina Barbour (The Bell), 4 Barbara Brook (Margate).
The KBA executive thanked everyone involved in the technical side, especially the markers who braved the heat and the rain over the three days, and Margate for their hospitality.
The KBA green keepers’ competition is at Margate this Saturday morning. Please come and support the people who work so hard on our greens.
For those who haven’t yet entered the 2015 Nationals, the closing date has been extended to Monday, March 16.And last, but certainly not least, all the best to the district teams for next week.

SOUTHPORT
WINNERS of the Fruit & Veg in-house pairs were Sheugnet Pretorius and Ted Pownell, with Brian Marriott and Jane Massam as runners-up. Third went to Bob Macfarlane and Sandy Shepherd.
The South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 will be played on Thursday, March 12.
Members please note that the time for tabs-in on Wednesdays and Saturdays has reverted to 1.45pm for 2pm.

HIBBERDENE
THE mixed drawn trips played last Friday was won by Gloria Gerrard, Chris Snyman and Helen Oosthuizen. Bez Bezuidenhout, Miriam Seager and Isobel McManus came second with Eddie Milne, Bubbles Bezuidenhout and Judy Aiston claiming the session prize. Thanks to Wimpy and Cutting Edge for their generous sponsorhips.
Next week is the drawn trips sponsored by Harcourts Scott Estates.
The Mooirivier trips will be played on Wednesday, March 11. This will be the last one sponsored by Mooirivier as Sophia Cronje is leaving the coast. Members wish her all the best and will miss her.
The Re/Max 3000 last week was won by Chris Snyman and team. Second were Keith Mills and team and third Norman Aiston and team.
The next round will be on March 25 (rounds nine and 10). On April 8 there will be one session followed by a bring and braai.

PORT EDWARD
WELL done to Barry Payn on winning gold at the KBA senior singles for 2015. What a huge achievement.
It was a busy weekend as the club hosted three sections of the men’s open singles. Thank you to the green staff, markers, umpire and other members who helped.
The Video plus DVD mixed pairs was won by Sergio and Pat Ruperto. Barry Payn and Phillipa Rowney were the runners-up and Jokkie and Marianne van Buuren took the second session.
Thanks must also go to everyone who assisted at the jumble sale on Saturday morning.
The draw for the club drawn mixed pairs is on the board.
Duties: bar – Mike Gower; tabs – Marianne van Buuren; tea – Eve Gower; eats March 12 – Myra and Tommy Doubell.

A FRIENDLY reminder that the next Nomad’s outing will be at Southbroom this Sunday, March 8 at 8.30am for 9am.
There will be a bring and braai after the game. All bowlers are welcome to join the Nomads.

First session went to Malcolm Milne, Nico Mantoan and Viv Date. Second session went to Sandy Davies, Phillipa Rowney and Derek Wicks. 50/50 to Hein Bester.

Daphne Hounsell and Tammy Gibbons won the recent G&K women’s pairs from runners-up Cynthia Korb and Jenny Graham.
Astrid Jackson and Nellie Davies took the session prize.
The next event is the Harbour View SuperSpar (in house) mixed pairs this Friday, March 6, followed by the J.Cee Sounds mixed pairs on Monday, March 9.

WINNERS of the Fruit & Veg 2-4-2 were Tickey and Denise Nel. Second were Steve O’Moore and Sharolyn Dacey. The session prize went to Jacques Snyman and Sharon Bisschoff.
The mixed trips winners were Garry le Brasse, Astrid Jackson and Willy Knott. In second place were Jan Snyman, Jane Massam and George Choromansel.
The session prize went to Nico van Niekerk, Stafford Tippett and Sandra van Niekerk.
The bonus ball (44) was won by Ricky Robeson.

TAKING first place at the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 were Ken Hills and Audrey Faux followed by Alan Tyers and Denise Palframan.
Sessions went to Ali Mitchell and Hazel Barton and to Patrick Kirkbright and Joan Tracy. Denzil Massyn won the 50/50.
The next sponsored competitions are the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on Tuesday, March 10, followed by the Hibiscus Insurance and Financial Brokers’ mixed trips on Thursday, March 12.
The list is up to enter the men’s and women’s club drawn pairs championship.

CLEANING up at the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday were Andreas van der Linde and Steve Rennie.
Runners-up were Dave Banks and Dan Delaney, and second session was won by Brian Camps and Ally Weir. The 50/50 board went to Leigh Warner.

MARGATE BC
CONGRATULATIONS to Pam Cole-Cook on winning the KBA women’s singles as well as to Esta Wenzel, the runner-up.
Chris Forward was the runner-up in the men’s division.
The next sponsored tournament will be the Margate Panelbeaters’ men’s 2-4-2 this Friday, March 6.
Concert practice for the Margate Week show takes place in the clubhouse every Monday at 3pm.
The next quiz evening will be on Wednesday, March 18 at 6pm.
Sunday morning bowls are played in mufti and everyone is welcome.
