SOUTH Coast Striders’ members had a very enjoyable run/walk at the Dick King Marathon in Amanzimtoti last Sunday.
Some took up the 15km walk, while others opted to run the 21,1km half marathon.
Fred Goodhead was once again the first junior over the finish line in a time of 1:27.
Caitlyn and Nikki Schlehmeyer did their first 15km walk and Caitlyn was the first junior walker in a time of 02.02.16, followed closely by Nikki who clocked 02.02.22.
The club had some more experienced walkers who finished in good times: Moira King 1:51:32, Pat Millar 1:53:35, Ian Millar 1:55:05, Jinks Brokensha 2:00:55, Shelagh Schwegman 2:07:33.
The Hibiscus Coast Ultra Marathon takes place on Sunday, April 26 and incorporates a 48km ultra marathon (cut off to qualify for Comrades 2015 is six hours), a 24km half ultra marathon and a 6,5km fun run.
The start and finish point is Southcity Christian School in Ramsgate.
