Two-bowl pairs produces exciting results
THE SpecSavers Pro 10 two-bowl pairs tournament played last weekend enjoyed fantastic enthusiasm for the format which resulted in some really good bowls being played.
Winners were Louw Vermeulen and Keith Harcombe from The Bell. Runners-up were Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells from Margate.
Third place went to Barry Delvin and Charles Mugatroyd from The Bell and fourth to Olwen Gibbs and Chrissie Chancellor from Riverside.
The winners will go through to play in the National SpecSavers Pro 10 to be played in Gauteng on August 12 and 13.
Thanks to the sponsors for the support and clubs for hosting the four sections.
The first and second rounds of the Saturday League will start on April 25.
HIBBERDENE
THE 50th birthday celebration was well attended and the eats were delicious. Thanks to one and all who attended.
The monthly Re/Max 3000 fours were played last Wednesday. Winners were Mike Mordaunt and team, followed by Norman Aiston and team. Third place went to Peet van Rooyen and team.

The first session will be held on April 8 followed by a bring and braai.
The Jolly Roger drawn trips last Friday was won by Danie Human, Jill Whitmore and Helene Oosthuizen. Second were Miriam Seager, Callie Quinn and Bubbles Bezuidenhout.

John and Olive Mett are wished a safe journey back to England.
MARGATE BC
WELL done to Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells on achieving runner-up position in the Pro 10 final played this week.
Winners of the Mooirivier open 2-4-2 were Shane Nienaber and Franci Philpott, followed by Ron Canning and Yvonne Bausek.
First session went to Andreas Blignaut and Brian Smallburger and second session to Roy Baker and Vicki de Beer.
Winners of the Martin’s Electronics drawn trips were Sandy Jeffrey, Rennie Geyer and Manny Rodrigues. Runners-up were Athol Robertson, Sharon Scheinberg and Henry Jacobs.
Margate Week is just around the corner. The next bingo evening is on April 7.
Thoughts are with Bob Smith after his recent fishing accident. He is wished a speedy recovery.

ATTIE Ackerman and Adrianna Peens won the Fruit and Veg mixed 2-4-2 last Friday.
Runners-up were Eddie Louw and Chrissie Chancellor. Sessions to Hermann and Sharon Scheinberg and Ann and Tony Bailey.
The Hopden’s Kwikspar open trips is on April 9 and the Cupboard Value drawn trips tabs in on April 16. Teams to be drawn for both at 1.30pm
The jumble sale will be held this Saturday, April 4.
Tabs in is played every Tuesday,Thursday,and Saturday afternoons from 2pm.
Coaching is available every Saturday from 9am.
MARGATE CC
WELL done to the women who won the recent Kingfisher fours, namely Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo, Gae Gravell and Helen Proctor.
The Shelley Beach SuperSpar mixed trips last Tuesday was won by Annette Payne, Alan Dinning and Danny McCarthy.
Runners-up were Rassie Erasmus, Chrissie Chancellor and Olwen Gibbs.
Session prize went to Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Dawn O’Healy. Olwen was also the lucky 50 /50 draw winner.
The Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach and Warwick Wealth Margate Challenge starts on April 9.

SOUTHBROOM
WOLF Security sponsored the mixed trips last Thursday. Winners were Hans Wijtman, Elliot Nqoko and Wynand Bezuidenhout.
Runners-up were Malcolom Milne, Mike Gamble and Viv Date.
Sessions to Hein Bester, Nelia Reed and Bill Reed, as well as Alfred Shusha, Lorraine Wijtman and Norma Ronald.
The Fazenda 2-4-2 was won by Mal Sheppard and Norma Ronald.Don’t forget the bowls and braai on Sunday, April 19.
VILLAGE
WINNERS of the Execudec mixed 2-4-2 were Roy Baker and Vicki de Beer, followed by Norman Isherwood and Marie Momple.
Sessions went to Lucas Barnard and Anne Riley and to Hermann and Sharon Scheinberg. Roy Baker also won the 50/50.
The next sponsored competitions are the Hibiscus Insurance and Financial Brokers’ mixed trips on April 9, and the Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips on April 14.
The draw is up for the men’s club drawn pairs championship.
The next RAC draw and bring and braai will be held this Friday (April 3), with the Fruit and Veg tabs-in mixed trips this Saturday (April 4).
MUNSTER
MIXED trips winners were Piet Heunis, Rina Fourie and Cliff Moakes, with runners-up being Barry and Joan Fowler and Helen Cock.Second session went to David Lindley, Val Smith and Andrew Bromley-Gans. THE Southport Service Station mixed trips were won by Jacques Snyman, Sheenagh Dempster and Jan Snyman with Geoff Kelleher, Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede as runners-up.
Third place went to Ann Barkway, John Hove and Bob Macfarlane.
The Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips will be played on Tuesday, April 7 and the in-house two-bowl trips on Friday, April 10.

MEMBERS be advised that the start of the KBA Saturday League has moved from April 11, with first games now to take place on April 25. Venues to follow.
