SHANE Gutzeit may only have managed a fourth place in Round 2 of the Supa Drift Series in Kimberley, but it was enough to see him top the national standings so far for the season.
Shane qualified in second place but had to settle for fourth spot in the main race.
“It wasn’t the result I was looking for but it should take my Dezzi/Dunlop Silvia S15 to first place in the national standings. Thanks go to my team and Dunlop Tyres SA and Dezzi who make it possible to live out this dream,” he said.
Also in action from the South Coast were Brendan and Gavin Puren.
The Friday morning practice rounds begun in cold and wet weather.
Brendan went backwards into the wall causing damage to his car, but still continued to drift.
After having clutch problems later, he nevertheless managed to do his qualifying round and get points.
Gavin started his weekend with clutch problems but still managed to drive his injured car and also got qualifying points and took a second place in the silver cup.
Thanks to GT Logistics for the truck and trailer, it worked like a dream.
Nick Frey managed to qualify 11th, then went into tandem battle with Jean Marais, where Nick took the win and continued into the top eight.
He then went up against Zein Hussain, where he lost the battle.
