Bowlers invade South Coast

ABOUT 400 bowlers from all corners of South Africa have descended on Margate Bowling Club to start the Margate Week Bowls Tournament.
On Monday this week, Councillor George Henderson, honorary member of Margate Bowling Club and principal of Re/Max By The Sea, rolled the first bowl. Margate Week is a popular annual event and has been played every year since 1966.
This popular tournament is sponsored by Margate Retirement Village, Re/Max By The Sea and Santana Holiday Resort.
The tournament will end this Friday with prize-giving at about midday. “This is a huge and important event which brings investment to our coast,” Cllr George Henderson.
Bowlers have been playing all week at Margate Bowling Club, Riverside Sports Club in Uvongo, The Village Bowling Club, Margate Country Club and Southbroom Bowling Club.
