HUGE seas and big winds are predicted for the weekend, so fishing is likely to be slow.
The sea was like a lake last Friday and Saturday. but last Sunday and Monday was huge with the frontal systems going out to sea.
In other news, Mark Brewitt caught a yellowtail and an amberjack. Regan Hutson landed a bonnie on light tackle on Saturday morning.
The day before, conditions were perfect.
According to Regan, there have still been the odd bonnies and sarda around. He landed two, but lost one (probably due to a black tip kingie cutting him off).
There have been some chases about, with game fish chasing sprats and baby shad along the coast.
This could be a good sign as these fish are moving south, hoping to meet up with the sards.
The water temperature has risen a little since last week, however there have been sightings of sardines (supposedly) in the East London area.
There has been some gannet and dolphin activity so maybe there will be a late run.
On the offshore side, there seems to be more action, with yellowtail and amberjack being taken on vertical jig as well as on bait!
On a lighter note, in Tweni, Cameron Olivant, aged six, landed tobies in abundance.
His father Gareth caught a sand shark. Young Cameron proudly announced to anyone who would listen that “we caught a tiger shark!”
