THE Hibiscus Ski-boat Club held its second and final club competition for the year recently.
Both the sun and sea gods were in a good mood and offered exceptional sea and weather.
Launch time was at first light and went off smoothly with the assistance of a team of six boat pushers.
Lines up were 1pm and the weigh master closed at 2pm. Prize-giving followed at 3pm.
Top angler was Doctor Danie Otto (sailfish), top jet ski Charles Kohler (yellowfin tuna), top boat ‘Misty’, skippered by Grant Richards, top game fish Dr Danie (sailfish), top bottom fish Deon Meyer, top junior Evan Peyios and… lastly, but not least, top woman angler, Christie Rollinson (yellowfin tuna).
They all received some fantastic prizes. The hard luck prize of the day went to Mike Rollinson for mistakenly packing a 5-litre tub of ice-cream into the cooler instead of his bait.
A total of 40 anglers, 10 ski-boats and four jet skis took part in the event.
Many good catches were made on the day.
Some anglers were lucky enough to boat some beautiful geelbek (Cape salmon) but these could not be counted as they were not listed on the competition’s species list for the day.
The day ended with a fantastic meal on the deck sponsored by the club and two local restaurants.
As usual this event could not have been possible without the generous sponsorship and support of local business; thanks to all who put their hands deep into their pockets and made the day spectacular.
