YOUNG golfer Simoné Ferreira (10) returned to the winner’s podium with a victory at the June game of SA Kids at Mount Edgecombe Country Club last week Sunday.
It was the perfect build-up towards her goal of playing in the Junior World Golf Championships at Pinehurst, North Carolina, in the USA next month.
She had a decent lead and so was able to play with a ‘safety first’ approach on the last hole, and thus clinch the win.
Simoné is hoping to fly the South Coast flag high.
Her parents, Petrus and Anet, thanked everyone who had helped them raise the funds to make the trip possible.
Simoné is due to leave on July 24.
Before that, though, Simoné will be playing in the 2015 Nomads South African Girls’ Golf Championships, for girls up to the age of 18 years old, at Orkney in the North West Province.
This tournament takes place from June 28 to 30.
