AFTER driving the slick and speedy Alfa Romeo 4C around for a few days, I now know what it must be like (sort of) to be a super model.
Seriously, people seemed to forget their manners. Your mother may have told you that it’s rude to stare, but when the 4C zipped past, that went out the window.
And the reaction was across the spectrum – from the streetsweeper to the guy in a Porsche, they all had a second, and sometimes third, look. Some cheered, others clapped, or gave the thumbs up.
So it was fun, that’s for sure. Alfa reckons the little beaut can get from zero to 100km/h in comfortably less than five seconds.
It’s probably the closest I will ever get to driving a race car.
The engine is a beast, and roars to life. Nothing quiet about it. I’m told Italians like their cars loud!
In short, it’s a sports car with a carbon-fibre body, a mid-engine layout, two seats, a turbocharged four-cylinder and a dual-clutch gearbox.
Specs: 1750cc four cylinder turbo engine, 177kW, 350Nm, 0-100kph in 4.5 secs, 257kph, 8.1l/100km.
