Kuga on the prowl…with EcoBoost
The latest Ford Kuga offers more performance, efficiency and technology.
THE new Ford Kuga is available with a significant range of upgrades that include the smart utility vehicle’s most powerful petrol and diesel engines to date, along with an efficient new 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine.
The Kuga 1.5 EcoBoost Ambiente FWD has been described as an SUV – smart utility vehicle. And in many ways it is just that.
It comes with a 1.5-l turbocharged EcoBoost engine, which kicks out 110kW of power and reaches peak torque of 240Nm.
The range-topping 2.0-litre TDCi delivers 10 percent more power, 15 percent more torque, now with 132kW and 400Nm.
Meanwhile, the most powerful Kuga SUV ever, the new Focus ST-derived 2.0-litre EcoBoost, delivers 177kW and 340Nm of torque.
The Kuga has auto-start-stop, and a keyless start, which can take some getting used to if you’ve never had a vehicle with this superb function.
There’s hill launch assist, plus dual front, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags.
It has a four year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, and a four year/80 000km service plan.
In addition, there’s a three year roadside assistance and a five year/unlimited km corrosion warranty.
In terms of technology, there’s Sync system, with Bluetooth and voice control.
The EcoBoost petrol emits 11g/km less CO2 than the outgoing 1.6 litre EcoBoost.
One of the Kuga’s most practical features is the integrated 230v/150W integrated power converter, which makes it ideal as a family vehicle with the ability to charge portable devices.
This is bolstered by 12v power points in the front and in the luggage compartment.
The Kuga 2.0 EcoBoost features intelligent all-wheel drive matched to a six-speed automatic gearbox with select shift.
It is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in just 7.8 sec and reaches a top speed of 212 km/h.
