‘Six Pack’ for cyclists

The series is a boost for local sports tourism.

OVER the past few years, the South Coast has become home to a number of highly successful mountain bike (MTB) and other outdoor events.

From 2016, six venues will anchor the ‘Six Pack’ MTB Series, namely the Port Edward Holiday Resort (Port Edward MTB Sardine Race), the Port Shepstone Country Club (Lions Show MTB Race), the Ingeli Forest Lodge (Ingeli MTB Challenge), Scottburgh Beach (Scottburgh MTB Race), Lake Eland (Lake Eland Quattro MTB Classic) and the Wild Coast Sun (Wild Coast MTB & Trail Run Experience).

These six events will take place between July and November and will include trail runs and mountain biking.

Given the new structure the series will now allow for more cohesive and targeted marketing campaigns.

“This is exactly what we are moving towards – supporting events and projects that create a much larger impact and events which show promise of creating a legacy. Stand-alone events often struggle with these two aspects, so we are very excited at this new development,” said Ugu South Coast Tourism’s CEO, Justin Mackrory.
