KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
CONGRATULATIONS to all bowlers who played in last weekend’s Mixed Novice Championships sponsored by the Ear Institute, especially Southport, who had two players in the finals. After a tight match, the eventual winner was Nellis Hattingh from Southport.
Worthy runner-up was Geoff Hudson from Port Shepstone, with Jens Anderson from Port Edward in third place and Peter Anderson from Southport in fourth. The Executive would like to thank everyone involved in making this such a successful tournament.
Apologies to The Bell for reporting last week that Michelle Vermeulen and Ronel Bourman were runners-up in the women’s pairs. It should have read Michelle Vermeulen and Anne-Marie Giblin.
Men’s selectors are requesting past, present or possible future district players interested in putting their names forward for possible selection for the 2016 Inter-district Trials to contact or sms Brian Rawlins at 083 2726566, or email at brian@coastalcellular.co.za before July 15.

PORT EDWARD
WINNERS of the 7th Heaven Mixed Trips last Tuesday (23rd) were Elbe Snyman, Fransien van der Merwe and Rob Lyle. Runners-up were Hedley Meek, David Lindley and Pat Ruperto and Arthur Ronaldson, Mike Gower and Phillipa Rowney took second session.
Coastal Farmers Co-op sponsored last Friday’s Mixed Pairs. Winners were Graham and Anjie Gold and Dave Banks and Denise Brass came second. Second session went to Marianne van Buuren and Grant Walton. Congratulations to Jens Andersen for achieving third place at last weekend’s KBA Novices tournament.
There will be no social bowls this Saturday (4th) to accommodate the annual men’s match between Amanzimtoti and Port Edward. Tabs-in is on Wednesday as usual. Greens will be closed for socials on Saturday, July 11, when PEBC hosts the KBA women’s trips

LAST Wednesday’s GP Security women’s pairs went to Anjie Gold and Joey Anderson and runners-up were Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells. Second session went to Maureen la Grange and Amorie Schöeler and 50/50 went to Janet and Boy Venter.
The next sponsored competitions are the Banners Rest mixed pairs tomorrow (3rd), the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs on Sunday (5th), and the Port Edward SuperSpar mixed trips on July 8.

CONGRATULATIONS to the winning team at the Wolf Security Open Mixed Trips, Rod Phelps, Aubrey Hood and Mary Phelps. Hein Bester, Nelia Read and Bill Read were runners-up and first session went to Hans Wijtman, Deks Zunker and Wynand Bezuidenhout.
Derek Schorn, Hazel Barton and Manny Piquito took second session and 50/50 went to Corrie Malan. Well played to all seven Southbroom novices who played in the KBA Novice singles competition last weekend.

LAST Thursday’s Martin Electronics Drawn Trips went to Franci Philpott, Derek McKechnie and Trish Bell. Runners-up were Trevor Heywood, Reg Sanders, Ann Waugh and Manny Rodrigues. Lucky draws went to Ian Hutton and Alison Dinning.
Members to invite friends and family for the fun development day this Sunday (5th) and bring some meat for the braai afterwards. Please enter names on the notice board list to cater for salads.
The next bingo evening is on Monday (7th). The next sponsored tournaments are the Margate Panelbeaters Men’s 2-4-2 tomorrow (3rd) and the Uvongo Spar Open 2-4-2 on July 17. Enter names on notice board forms or contact Ian Hutton at 081 3166634 or Trixi Smith at 082 9409745.
Sunday morning bowls are played in mufti. Bowlers and non-bowlers are welcome to join in a morning of fun bowls and a bacon and egg breakfast.

BILL Brown, Barry Herbert and Dawn O’Healey won the Shelley Beach SuperSpar Mixed Trips last Tuesday with a score of 4+22. No other teams won both matches, which made Annette Payne, Trevor Haywood and Danny McCarthy runners-up on 2+19. Second session went to Martiens Olivier, Helen Proctor and Dora Vosloo on a score of 2+1. Jean Westerman took 50/50.
All sponsored competitions for the next two months will be at MBC while club greens receive some much needed work. Tabs continue as usual.

VILLAGE
WINNERS of the Execudec Mixed 2-4-2 (on a count out) were Bill and Nelia Reed from Carl Volker, and Rosalie Bloom. Sessions went to Norman Isherwood and Val Kirkbright and Dereck Schorn and Irma Smook. Denzil Massyn took 50/50.
The next sponsored competitions are the Hibiscus Insurance and Financial Brokers Mixed Trips on July 9, the Hibiscus Retirement Village Men’s Trips on July 14, and the Martin Electronics Men’s 2-4-2 on July 16. Contact Hazel at 039 3125277.
The Fruit and Veg drawn Mixed Trips will be this Saturday (4th). Players to arrange for a marker. The RAC and Durban July draws take place tomorrow (3rd), followed by a ‘bring and braai’. Raffle tickets can be bought from Aileen. Bingo is on July 10.

CONGRATULATIONS to Dave Barber and Graham Dunlop for winning the KBA Men’s Pairs. John Sutton and Betty Bolton won the Fruit & Veg Mixed 2-4-2. Runners-up were Olwen Gibbs and Hazel Williams.
First session went to Rassie Erasmus and Dawn Oehley and second session to Eddie Louw and Chrissie Chancellor. The next sponsored competition is the Fruit and Veg Mixed 2-4-2 on July 31. Condolences to Sharon Smith on the loss of her mother. Ann Bailey and Sydney Ackermann are wished a speedy recovery.

FIVE members played in the KBA novices singles last weekend. Congratulations to runner-up Geoff Hudson on his excellent play. Members to enter names on the KBA trips draw and club pairs entry forms on the board.

CHRIS Jacobs, Jacques Snyman, Sheenagh Dempster and Ruth Findlay won the recent 3rd Avenue fours from runners-up Eric Grierson, Derick and Jean Celliers and Isabel Prenger.
Jan Snyman and Tammy Gibbons won the JCee Sounds mixed trips from second-placed Jack and Dalene van Rensburg. George and Marie Pick took session.
The next sponsored event is the in-house Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pairs tomorrow (3rd), followed by the South Coast Herald men’s pairs on July 7.

CONGRATULATIONS to Nellis Hattingh for winning the KBA Novices singles and to Peter Anderson for placing fourth.
Mike King, Bob Moroney and Nellis Hattingh won the Dr Daryl D’Arcy Men’s Trips last Thursday, with Renzo van Niekerk, Barry Krouser and Tony Olivant as runners-up. Session went to Jack van der Berg, Cosmos Gumede and Werner Mody.
Winners of last Sunday’s Serene Care Mixed Trips were Sheugnet Pretorius, Bob MacFarlane and Hennie Greyling, with Mark Bischoff, John and Judy Hove as runners-up. Third place went to Johan McLeod, Fanie and Annette Strydom. The Harbour View Spar Women’s Trips takes place on July 7.

HIBBERDENE
BEZ Bezuidenhout and Bruce Hoyer did the club a great honour by making the men’s pairs final last Monday. They lost by one shot at the last end.
In the nominated mixed trips last Friday, Apie Putter and Albert and Alida Munnik won, second place went to Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout and Maureen Jonker with session going to Jill Whitmore, Bruce Hoyer and Eddie Milne. Thank you to Harcourts’ Scott Bay and Chris Shone for the generous sponsorship.
Dennis (the Menace) Lewis and Fay Patterson are both congratulated for their 85th birthdays. Well done and keep going!
The next competition is the nominated mixed trips tomorrow (3rd) at 1.30pm and the all-day mixed trips competition against Sezela on Saturday (4th).
