THE Umtentweni Tennis Club championships start this Saturday, July 25.
The order of play is as follows:
11am Men’s singles – Tisch Roos vs Gareth Olivant; Dan Dimitriu vs Matt Holmes; Rob Browne vs Colin Barker.
1pm Mixed doubles – Colin Barker/Isabeau le Roux vs Matt Holmes/Reel Fincham; Rob Browne/Chloe Dutton vs Raj Naganna/Lynne Rorich; Tisch Roos/Mary Wood vs Foxy Norton/Anne Payn.
3pm Mixed doubles – Grant and Trish Wood vs Dan Dimitriu/Chantelle Donald.
All entrants are reminded that matches need to be played on or before the scheduled times or, at the very latest, before the next weekend.
Anyone who can’t make the scheduled time for a match is asked to make arrangements with his/her opponents to play at a time convenient to all. Please inform Reel Fincham of the results of these matches.
The other events are smaller and matches in these events will be played next Saturday.
There will always be courts available for social tennis so come along and have a game even if you haven’t entered the champs.
The finals are scheduled for Saturday, August 8, and will be followed by prize-giving and a bring and braai. Please fill in the lists on the notice board re salads/desserts/breads for the braai.
Last Saturday there were only four courts going so everyone really had a feast on Isabeau le Roux’s lemon meringue pies, gingerbread and (very original!) toasted cheese and tomato sarmies.
Heloise Cloete, our ‘regular’ visitor, was most welcome. Everyone hopes that Reel Fincham and Jean Marx will soon be back on the courts.
