THE Fidelity Security South Coast Warriors trounced Richards Bay 33-12 at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground last Saturday.
On a warm winter afternoon, the hosts were simply too good, and the big win came as some consolation at the end of a season that hasn’t always gone according to plan.
The first try came moments after kick-off, with flyhalf Jaques Petzer-Moore breaking the line, drawing defenders and then unloading to gas man Cameron McBean, who dotted down in the corner.
Not long afterwards, the Warriors showed their pack power, shoving Richards Bay backwards in a show of strength for a pushover try.

It was a ferocious effort, so much so that one of the Warriors’ players ended up almost losing his shirt. Not that he minded.
The Warriors certainly took the game seriously, especially after seeing the way Richards Bay celebrated when their second team produced a strong second half to outplay the home team, 52-35.
It clearly meant a lot to them to beat the Warriors, so there was no time for complacency.
For the Warriors, Kayd du Toit was the backline man of the match, and the massively powerful Gromingo Mzunga, better known as ‘G’, the forwards man of the match.
He was brutal in attack and rock-solid in defence.
Tries on the day were scored by Mzunga, Karel van Rooyen, McBean, and Daniels Kunene, who dotted down twice.
Petzer-Moore, who sports a hairstyle former Sharks winger Cabous van der Westhhuizen would be proud of, slotted two conversions and a penalty.

On a lighter note, combative scrum-half Chris Mitchell spent the entire 80 minutes on the field this game, much to the relief of the coaching staff.
Looking ahead, The Fidelity South Coast Warriors will face Varsity College in their Castle Murray Cup qualifying round game at Douglas Mitchell on Saturday, August 1, time to be confirmed.
The Castle Murray Cup sees the First Division clubs take on the Premier Division clubs.
