Diarise these dates
THERE are a number of important dates that bowlers need to know about.
The KBA council meeting will take place at Margate Bowling Club on Monday, July 27 at 9.30am.
Wednesday, August 19 – TID for all the women who have put their names down for consideration for selection for interdistricts. Scores from the exercises will be taken into consideration at the trials.
The TID will be held all day at AMBC on Wednesday, August 19, starting at 9.30am. Teas and a light lunch will be on sale.
Registration will be open from 8.30am. Please bring a short synopsis of personal achievements over the past three years.
Saturday, August 22 and Sunday, August 23 – trials will be held at Margate Bowling Club, starting at 9.30am, on both days.

BANNERS REST
THE Thebe drawn fours played last Wednesday was won by Dave Hume, Ray Martin, John Keppler and Amorie Schoëler.
In second place were Steve Rennie, Rob Lyle, Derek Wicks and Pat Brand.
Third place went to Rod Phelps, Anji Gold, Yvonne Fillis and Anne Wells, with the 50/50 board going to Sariena Ziervögel.
Next sponsored competition is the SASFIN drawn fours on Wednesday, July 29.
Birthday wishes go to Ron Camps on July 29.
HIBBERDENE
WINNERS of the nominated mixed trips were Eddie Milne with Annetjie and Danie Human.
In second were Jan and Helene Oosthuizen, with Chris Snyman. Session prize went to Norman and Judy Aiston, with Bruce Hoyer.

MEMBERS are mourning the death of John Richardson. Condolences to his family and friends, he will be sorely missed.
Winners of the Manaba Kwikspar women’s 2-4-2 last Friday were Trixi Smith and Maureen Roach, from Sheena Absalom and Vicki de Beer.
Session went to Helen Cock and Joey Anderson; 50/50 board was won by Yvonne Bausek.
Next sponsored tournament is the Uvongo Spar open 2-4-2 this Friday, July 24.

MARGATE CC
IN the Hopden’s Manaba Spar women’s trips the winners were Ria van Vuuren, Trish Bell and Maureen Roach.
Runners-up were Sheena Absolom, Barbara Brook and Maureen Potgieter. Session prize went to Yvonne van Mentz, Jean Marnewick and Helen Proctor.
In the Engel & Volkers Property Shop men’s fours competition Barry Delvin’s team of Barry, Rassie Erasmus, Jimmy Holtshausen and Taubie Jonker were once again victorious winning gold with 22 points.
Silver went to the Munster team of Graham Gold, Albert van der Lith, Tienie Prinsloo and Cliff Moakes.
Bronze went to Barry Payn, Steve Rennie, Johnny Keppler and Rob Lyle.
Barry Delvin’s team leads with total points of 113.
MUNSTER
THE Dolphin Pub & Grill open trips were won by Tommie and Louise Dry, with Willie Smith.
Runners-up were Hedley Meek, with Tony and Val Smith.
Second session went to Graham & Anji Gold, with Cliff Moakes.
Tabs in Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are at 1.30pm. Visitors welcome.
NOMADS
THE Nomads had a very successful outing at Margate BC last Sunday, with 46 players and six visitors. Thanks to Absa Bank for sponsoring the day.
Winners were Ross Ferguson, Hans Hugo and Gae Gravell. In second place were Ina Malan, Helen Proctor and Myra Doubell.
Third prize went to Bill Brown, Tom Doubell and Sean Larkin. The sportsman’s prize went to John Sutton, Rennie Geyer and Monika Zunker.
Nearest the jack was Helen Proctor. Mal Moni won the spider, funds raised will go to South Coast Hospice.
The 50/50 draw was won by Ria Botha, Natalie Herbert, John Sutton and Mal Moni.
At the women’s Nomads Nationals held in Benoni, Betty Bolton emerged as the winner, with Trixie Smith as runner-up.
The men’s nationals will be held in Port Elizabeth from August 3 to 7. Good luck to Dave Slippers, Ian Hutton and Alan Dinning.
PORT EDWARD
WELL done to Barry Payn and Leoni Booth on winning the men’s and women’s singles club championship respectively.
Runners-up were Peter Ziervogel and Marianne van Buuren.
Marianne van Buuren, Leoni Booth and Estelle Carter finished second to AMBC in the KBA women’s trips final played in atrocious weather last week Monday.
Tabs in social bowls will take place on Saturday and Wednesday next week, visitors most welcome.
RIVERSIDE
SADLY, Raymond Cheetham has died. Thoughts and prayers are with his wife Ann and family including his sister Janette.
Next sponsored competion is the Fruit & Veg mixed 2-4-2 on Friday, July 31.
The Cupboard Value annual all day competition will be held on August 9.
Tabs in Tuesday,Thursday and Saturday afternoons are from 1.15pm. Visitors welcome.

THE Coffee on the Square competition this month will be held this Thursday, July 23 during tabs-in starting at 2pm.
The monthly Sunday social bowls and braai will be held this Sunday, July 26 at 10.30am. All welcome.

SOUTHPORT
WINNERS of the South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 were Keith Mills and Tammy Gibbons with Dalene van der Berg and Hennie Greyling as runners-up. Session winners were Mike King and Kitty Cochman.
The winners of the Harbour View SuperSpar mixed trips were Peter Anderson, Richard Cochman and Perry Williams on a count-out from John and Judy Hove and Nellis Hattingh.
The Dr D’Arcy men’s trips will be played this Thursday, July 23.

TWENI
JAN Huygen, with George and Marie Pick, won the Schooners mixed trips from Jack and Dalene van der Berg with Tammy Gibbons.
Jacques Snyman and Tony Aveyard won the South Coast Herald men’s pairs from Tony Korb and Dumisani Madlala. Jack van der Berg and Hennie Greyling took the session prize.
Peet van Rooyen, Susan Fourie, Charles Murgatroyd and George Pick won the 3rd Avenue mixed fours from Renier van Tonder, Jane Massam, Sandy Shepherd and Nellis Hattingh.
Mike King, Sheenagh Dempster, Jacques Snyman and Trudy Rush took the session prize.
The next event is the G&K women’s 2-4-2 today, Thursday, July 23.
VILLAGE
THE winners of Hibiscus Retirement Villages’ men’s trips were Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Chris Abram on a countout from Rennie Geyer, Ron Canning and Eric Chamier.
Sessions went to John Sutton, Tony Simmons and Bill Reed and to Ivan Hosken, Dave Garland and Derrick Shell. Doug Kent won the 50/50.
Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 was won by Rennie Geyer and Ron Canning followed by Bill Parfitt and Chris Abram.
Sessions went to Roy Baker and Oscar Pienaar and to Bill Brown and Gary Hess on a countout from Martiens Olivier and Bill Eccles. John Sutton won the 50/50.
The Hyundai drawn mixed trips were won by Nelia Reed, Fred Askham and Mike Ryan followed by Basil Redshaw, Doug Kent and Kathy Hall.
Please put your names on the list if you wish to play in the annual interclub challenge against Umdoni Village on August 12. The cost will be R45 each for tea and lunch.
