EFC fighter Gary ‘I love your face’ wins on pro debut

Margate's mixed martial arts star combats the 'soldier'.

IN two minutes and 40 seconds, Gorgeous Boys Hardcore fighter, Gary ‘I love your face’ Smit had Steve ‘Soldier’ Nwosu tapping out at the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC) held in Cape Town last Saturday.

“It’s not my fastest time,” admits Gary (28).

“It took a couple of kicks, and then I landed a kick to his head, getting him to the floor,” he said, describing how he took the Nigerian ‘Soldier’ down in his pro debut.

Gary, who took on the fight at short notice, said that despite his opponent’s relaxed composure, he didn’t react the way he should have in the ring.

“I have never been fitter, and I’m injury free for once,” said a confident Gary of Superbodies, Margate.

For someone who has been training and fighting for the last 11 years this win was long overdue.

Gary is ranked sixth of 20 active South Africa pro heavyweights, and is now contracted full-time to EFC.

For Gary, it’s black and white – you can either win or lose. “The worst case scenario is that you lose, but you must know what to do to not to lose.”
