New committee for rugby Warriors
There is a lot to look forward to for local rugby players and fans.
MANIE Cloete has been tasked with leading the Fidelity South Coast Warriors Rugby Club next season.
The new president was voted in at the club’s recent annual general meeting where a new and expanded executive committee was elected.
It comprises Manie Cloete (president), Ettiene Nel, Riaan Coleman (treasurer), David van Zyl, André Koekemoer, Danie van Tonder and Lulu Bodla (transformation and development), with Angi Strachan as secretary.
The Warriors have now been included in an expanded premier league which is an exciting inclusion for the club.
As such, top clubs will be hosted in home games at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground next season.
The committee would like local rugby fans to come out in numbers to support the home games.
The club also expressed sincere appreciation to the previous committee and coaching staff, as well as to loyal sponsors for their valuable contributions.
With the club being in the premier league, it’s a great opportunity for other businesses to get involved in supporting the Warriors.
During the 2015 season the club introduced two junior teams – U13 and U14/15 combined.
These two teams developed so much that they both ended up in the finals of the Durban Rugby Sub Union Youth Club tournament.
In the 2016 season the club would like to continue with the U13, U14/15 combined teams, and also introduce an U18 side.
They need parents to support and enrol their boys next year. This is where a young player will get exposure and catch the eye of the KZN Duikers Youth Rugby selectors.
The club has also invited prospective coaches for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and U20 teams to submit CVs to mactoo@telkomsa.net by no later than December 4, 2015.
