Quadrangular awaits for bowlers
WELL done to The Bell men’s team on winning the men’s first league and commiserations to Hibberdene who are relegated to the second league.
Port Shepstone ‘B’ were promoted after winning their second league which means that Port Shepstone men have now got two sides in the first league next year.
The annual KZN Quadrangular Tournament takes place this weekend.
The open, senior and B sides will be playing at Riverside and Margate and the President’s sides will be playing at Southbroom and Margate.
Note the dates for the Margate Challenge, originally diarised for April 7, 8 and 9, it will now be played on April 1 and 2.
It’s usually played over three days but because March 31 clashes with the midweek league, the tournament will only be played over two days this year.
BANNERS REST
WINNERS of the Indulgence Beauty Salon and Peter Bennett open pairs played last Wednesday were Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells.
Runners-up were Leoni Booth and Estelle Carter. 50/50 to Estelle Carter.
GP Security mixed pairs is tomorrow (4th), the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs on the 6th, and the SuperSpar Port Edward two-bowl mixed trips on the 7th, having changed from March 9.
The Indulgence open pairs has been moved from March 11 to March 22.
HIBBERDENE
DRAWN pairs were played last Wednesday and won by Norman and Judy Aiston, followed by Paul Grutter and Estelle Quinn. Session to Roger Burwood and Martin Rautenbach.
Tabie Jonker, Miriam Seager and Louise Shone won last Friday’s comp, from Albert and Alida Munnik, with Rente Stevens.

IAN Kalil and Trish Bell won the Uvongo Spar open 2-4-2 last Friday, with Gary Hess and Dereck Schorn in second place.
Sessions went to David James and Brian Smalberger and Trevor Heywood and Philip Audibert (2nd). 50/50 won by Barbara Iceton.
Twilight league this Friday (4th) from 4pm. Good bowling to ‘mini districts’ new caps Yvonne Bausek and Franci Philpott.
Margate Panelbeaters men’s 2-4-2 is this Friday (4th). Duties: office – Annette Payne; tea – Heidi Bracegirdle and Jean Bouverie.
MARGATE CC
KOBIE Stander, Gae Gravelle and Clive Edmundson won the Hopdens Spar open trips last Tuesday.
Runners-up were Bill Brown, Barry Herbert and Dina van der Walt.

Hans van der Walt is the club’s novice champion, and Ralph Burls the runners-up.

PIET Heunis and David Lindley are the club’s nominated men’s pairs champions, and Penny Hood and Val Smith the women’s champions.
The High Rock Pub and Grill mixed trips was won by Peter and Sariena Ziervoegel, with Rita Zietsman. Runners-up were Martiens Zietsman, Rick Harding and Myra Doubell.

OVERALL winners of the Video Plus DVD mixed pairs were Elbè and George Snyman, runners-up were Gawie Bosman and Pat Brand.

THE Wolf Security open trips were won by Hans Wijtman, Norma Ronald and Elize Bester. Runners-up were Hein Bester, Nelia Reed, Bill Reed.

The club will be closed for tabs this weekend due to the Quadrangular.

THE BELL
CONGRATULATIONS to all the men who played in the Saturday first division league and for winning it for the third year running.
Winners of the mixed trips sponsored by Orcas were Sandy and Stan Penny with Jody Slade. Runners-up were Maureen Muller, Susan Fourie and Kevin Mullen.
Second session went to Charmaine van Deventer with Louw and Michelle Vermeullen.

TWENI
THE finals of the club handicap singles saw some stunning bowls and nail-biting finishes. Tammy Gibbons beat Elfriede Goosen 21-20 and Peter Clark beat Dennis Graham 21-18.
The 3rd Avenue Restaurant sponsored mixed fours were won by Keith Mills, Mike King, Tammy Gibbons and Mike Findlay.
Runners-up were Jan Huygen, Astrid Jackson, Peter Marsh and Nellie Davies. Second session to Tony and Cynthia Korb, Dumisani Madlada and Karen Delaney.
The Wimpy women’s pairs was won by Maureen Muller and Susan Fourie.
Harbour View SuperSpar mixed pars this Friday (4th), followed by The Schooners Restaurant mixed trips on Monday (7th).
VILLAGE
‘A’ GREEN is looking good and is now available to start playing on again, but there will be no sponsored competitions until further notice.
