Margate’s Louis aces the 17th … at the Wild Coast
THE Town Clerk’s Trophy, played for at Margate Country Club last Tuesday, was won by Wondra Bothma on 38 points, from Margaret Taylor on 37 points. In third place was Hilary Hendry on 36 points.
Winning the Wednesday Wobblers’ alliance at the Wild Coast Sun CC on 93 points were Rob McGill, Konnie Konrad, André du Plessie and Louis Kuhn, who aced the 17th.
Runners-up were Hans Beilhartz, Dave Morrison, Jan Richter and Richard Plaskitt on 88 points, followed by Jim Finn, Dave Parsons, Otto Mutschler and Brian Jeffreys on 85 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Ray Hubbard, Freddie Boshoff, Rob Brien and Piet Pretorius on 77 points.
Thursday’s comp was won by Carlos Perreira on 39 points by one from Keith Duncalf.
Nearest the pins were Jim ‘Sniper’ Finn on both the 4th and the 16th.
The Windhoek International pairs took place at the club last Saturday.
In first spot were Johan Wentzel and Riaan Croucamp on 45 points, counting out Jim Finn and Tony Ford.
Third place went to Dolf Willemse and Thys Bothma on 43 points.
Wondra Bothma and Jane Davies won the women’s section on 42 points, by two from Evelyn Burls and Lizzie Meyer.
The mixed fourball alliance last Sunday was won by Wayne Minnaar, Bonita Roos, Graeme Massam and Maureen Ogilvie on 91 points.
Runners-up were Derek Egerton, Beryl Williamson, Ralph Burls and Evelyn Burls on 90 points.
Graham shoots the lights out
JOHANN van Niekerk and Carl Grobler carded 47 points to win the betterball at Port Shepstone Country Club last week Wednesday.
In second place on 45 points were Ewald Ziervogel and Jenny Hulley.
Local ‘boytjie’ Graham Fabricius won the strokeplay championship on Day One of the event, scoring 69 and 72, a full 18 shots better than his disappointing rounds at club champs.

Great week for the Carolans
THE Casa Toscana (any) mixed alliance at Southbroom Golf Club last Sunday saw first prize go to Jim and Lorraine Cook, Cleve and Julie Walker on 92 points.
Second place went to Craig and Geraldine Treherne, Derrik and Rene Matthew on 90 points, with third to Carol McLennan, Gavin Lawlor and Glen Blignaut on 89 points.
The previous Wednesday’s comp was won by Geraldine Treherne, Di Morris, Heleen Hissey and Julie Walker on 90 points, on a countout from Ruth Mosburger, Lorraine Cook, Lan Yeadon and Maeve Mullane.
The men’s comp saw Joe Carolan, John Neaves, Richard Derman and Paul Cole take first place on 95 points, on a countout from Chris Miller, Olliver Ransome, Mike Jacquet and Jim Cook.
Two shots behind were Jonathan Shaw, John Fox, and Matthew brothers Derrik and Bruce Matthew.
Last Saturday’s comp was won by Jeanette Peyios and Mary Carolan on 47 points, four ahead of Shirley Jeffery and Julie Walker who had 43 points.
A further three points behind were Jenny Westray and Geraldine Treherne, as well as Jean Corfe and Candida Amm.
In the men’s section it was Gurney Mathews and Joe Carolan who won on 46 points, edging out Olliver Ransome and Vic Pretorius on 45 points, as well as Malcolm Greenland and Osie Osborne.
