Ride or run … all had fun at new trail
One of the bridge features on the MTB trail was named after the late Burry Stander.
THE official launch of the San Lameer Estate MTB and Trail Fun Run and Race took place last Saturday. Set in a beautiful tropical paradise, cyclists and trail runners were blessed with perfect weather.
Entrants in the 4km fun run experienced the first four (out of seven) loops of the newly built San Lameer MTB Trail. Thereafter the 7km and 17km fun cycling races followed. Family and friends of the runners and cyclists had the pleasure of watching the panting entrants speed down the final hill on the way to the finish.

Guests also enjoyed the hospitality tent, massage area and children’s play area. The event ended on a very high note when managing director of San Lameer Estate, Pine Pienaar requested Mandie Stander’s approval to name one of the bridge features on the mountain bike trail after the late Burry Stander. The bridge will be called the ‘Burry Stander Bridge’ and San Lameer also pledged a R10 000 donation towards the Burry Stander Foundation.
