Wayne’s World: Become a ‘legend’ runner
Winter time puts training commitment to the test.
JULY is a really difficult month to do training because of the short days and cold mornings and evenings.
Waking up at 4am to go for a 15 to 20km training run is not a pleasant task and that’s why I have developed a vigorous training programme than spans from Monday through to Thursday.
Each training session lasts no more than 45 minutes and that includes stretching, warming up and cooling down.
When, and if, you have the luxury of cracking a longer run some time during the weekend it completes a training program that pretty much makes you a legend runner.
Every runner from the beginners to the fastest will benefit from this programme.
South Coast Striders meet at various venues at 5pm so if you are interested in joining in, give me (Wayne) a call at 082 6043073, and just like the pain, it is free.

Weekly time trials are every Wednesday at 5.30pm and you can tackle a 5km or 10km route which starts at the fishing pier in Uvongo.
There will be burgers and boerie rolls on sale after time trial tonight (July 6) so please come support our fund raising efforts.
This past weekend saw some of our Striders take part in the Port Edward Holiday Resort Burry Stander MTB and Trail Run Sardine Festival at Clearwater Trails.
Michael Mzobe took first place in the 20km race while Sinovuyo Ncasa was first in the 10km event.
Well done to all our runners who took part in what I believe was a very exciting and chilly race.
This Sunday Forrest Hills Athletics club is hosting a 10km run/walk which starts at 7am. Contact is Dirk 083 3881515.
