Soapbox Derby set to thrill
In an interesting addition, skateboarders are also invited to show off their skills.
EXCITEMENT is building ahead of the revived Rotary Port Shepstone and Thompson Nissan Festival of Speed (Soapbox Derby).
It is due to take place at Dezzi Raceway in Oslo Beach this Sunday, July 24 from 9am.
There are numerous categories, including the Mini Movers (four to six years old), Keen Kids (seven to 12), Tenacious Teen (13 to 17), Novelty Cart Race (open), Team Challenge (open), Whizzing Women (18+), Macho Men (18+) and Trophy Challenge (open).
Shortest distance that will be raced is for the little ones and is only 50m. From there they increase to 100m, 200m and 500m.

It’s a charity event so challenge your friends, family or even colleagues to take part. Entrance fee for spectators is R30 per person. Pensioners will pay R20 and children under the age of 12 enter free of charge.
In addition, skateboarders are invited to bring along their gear and take advantage of this opportunity to show off their skill.
