Easy win for rugby Warriors
The local rugby team will now turn its attention to the Murray Cup.
IT was a pretty good day all-round for the Riversmead South Coast Warriors at Douglas Mitchell Sports Ground last Saturday.
Warriors U13, U15 and U18 teams played against KZN Development teams. In the main games, the seconds and firsts both took on Durban Crusaders.
The U13s won 62-5, running in 10 tries, while the U15s won 31-20. The U18s also had a fairly comfortable victory, winning 29-17, scoring five tries.
The first team beat Crusaders 33-17. scoring three unconverted tries and knocking over six penalties.
Meanwhile, the club is looking forward to hosting KZN junior trials on July 31.
With the regular season over, the focus of club rugby shifts to the Castle Murray Cup, now in its 116th year.
The first round draw was done at Growthpoint Kings Park on Monday this week. The final will take place at Crusaders.
Prize-money has been increased this year, with the winning team taking home R58 000, the losing finalist R26 000, the MVP of the tournament earning R10 000 and the man of the match in the final, R5000.
First division clubs host premier league clubs.

Richards Bay vs Toti; Ballito Dolphins vs Jaguars; Vryheid vs UKZN Impi; Hillcrest vs Durban Collegians; Westville Old Boys vs Crusaders; NC Highlanders vs Varsity College; Sentraal (Dundee) vs SC Warriors; Rhinos vs College Rovers.
