Reaching new heights for charity at Lake Eland pedal
There was wonderful camaraderie at the event.
THE Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach Pedal for Patients family day at Lake Eland last Saturday was well supported.
Although cyclists and trail runners experienced chilly weather, they were blessed with a beautiful tropical paradise.
Entrants in the 10km run/walk took to the trail first and thereafter the 25km cycle/run, the 10km cycle.
The six kilometre and the 10km family walk followed. Mums, dads, grandparents, children on tricycles, push scooters and prams were all invited to see how far they could go.
Family and friends of the runners and cyclists had the pleasure of watching the entrants speed down the final hill on the way to the finish.
Guests also enjoyed the hospitality of breakfast and lunch, a cash bar, accommodation, camping, the zipline, fishing and a children’s play area available at Lake Eland.
The event ended on a very high note when goodie bags were handed out to all participants and medals for all who completed the walk/cycle race.
Proceeds to the value of R100 000 (including sponsorships) will go to South Coast Hospice.
