Tall trophy for best fighter Sfiso
Dr Sipho Nzimande has played a key role in their development.
A NUMBER of South Coast karateka from Gamalakhe produced pretty good results at the recent Shihan Sabela Memorial tournament. It was held in memory of the late martial arts humdinger.
Senpei Sfiso Nhlumayo earned third position in the open section. He was also awarded a very tall trophy, acknowledging him as the ‘best fighter’ at the event.
Senpei Thabiso Gwebela came second in the under 60 kg section.
The team from the South Coast has shone at all the kyokushin events so far this year, and more awards are expected to flow in soon.
The group is now preparing for the International Martial Arts Tournament, due to take place in Swaziland later this year.
Sincere gratitude was extended to Sensei Dr Sipho Nzimande, the rector at Esayidi TVET College.
Despite his busy daily schedule, he finds time (three times a week in fact) to develop the youth through the Martial Arts Spirit programme.
