Andile Phehlukwayo named in South Africa’s ODI squad

South Coasters finally have a local player to support.

FORMER Margate Primary (and Glenwood High) pupil Andile Phehlukwayo has been chosen as part of the Proteas outfit to play in ODI cricket games against Ireland and Australia in the coming weeks.

Andile was the leading wicket-taker for South Africa A in the recently concluded quadrangular series in Australia.

He’s been knocking on the door for some time following his promising performances in the Momentum One-Day Cup last year, where he relished the role of being the ‘death bowler’ for the Sunfoil Dolphins.

The Proteas play one match against Ireland on September 25, and the five against Australia.

There’s a day/night game in Durban on Wednesday, October 5. Hope it doesn’t rain.

Squad to play Ireland: AB de Villiers (captain), Temba Bavuma, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, David Miller, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada.

Squad to play Australia: AB de Villiers (capt), Kyle Abbott, Hashim Amla, Farhaan Behardien, Quinton de Kock, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Chris Morris, Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangiso, Andile Phehlukwayo, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dale Steyn.
