Michelle and Emma shine in Durban swim meet
Every swimmer had a personal best time in an event in which they swam.
MEMBERS of the Blue Ocean Aquatics swimming club took part at their first Kings Park event of the season recently and had some outstanding results.
The event took place from a Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, with swims in all the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m events in the 8 and under age group, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15 and over age groups.
The club had 12 swimmers taking part in the various age groups and brought home a total of 15 medals.
These medals belong to Michelle Kretzschmar (one gold and one bronze), Emma Kuhn (one gold, two silver and three bronze), Milla Drakopoulos (three bronze) and Marnu Koekemoer (two silver and two bronze).
Every swimmer had a personal best time in an event in which they swam and some even had a personal best time in every swim they swam.
Nelzaan Strydom had an overall improvement of 30.41 seconds on her swims, followed by Emma Kuhn with a 24.97-second improvement.
Hannah Scott had an improvement of 21.23 seconds and Olivia Hulley improved by 21.83 seconds. Marnu Koekemoer improved by 20.80 seconds and Winé Koekemoer by 15.72 seconds.
Daniel Fisher and Gemma Allchin both swam qualifying times to move up from level 1 to level 2.
“It was a great gala for the swimmers to see how they fare against the Durban swimmers and they did the Ugu district and Blue Ocean Aquatics proud by swimming fast and achieving great times and positions,” said coach Mandy Koegelenberg.
