South Coast ‘Golden Girl’ Francisca stuns judges
From seemingly nowhere, Francisca has taken the fitness world by storm.
GENERALLY, bodybuilding and fitness is a sport that takes many years for one to be ready to compete. But … not in the case of Francisca Labuschagne of Margate.
Six months ago, the 30 year-old mother of two signed up with an online trainer from Durban.
Four months into it, her trainer was so impressed that she felt she should enter the IFBB KwaZulu-Natal provincials competition.
“I was so unsure as I would be skipping all the novice comps and entering straight into the KZN provincials, and that of the IFBB Federation, which is the biggest federation worldwide,” she said.
Francisca needn’t have worried.
She entered the IFBB KZN provinvials held at the Playhouse in Durban recently and in her first ever competition as a bikini fitness athlete, she placed second.
Later that day it was announced, to her surprise, that she had been chosen for nationals, which would take place two weeks later.
“This was a huge honour for me,” she said. More surprises were to follow.
At the national champs, also held in Durban, she won the bikini fitness trophy!
“I won a great golden trophy. I’m officially a South African champion. I’m so happy to have made my province proud,” she said.
The best part for her is that she has been chosen to represent South Africa in Poland in November.
“It’s a dream come true, to be chosen for the world champs. I’m really hoping this small town girl from Margate can make the coast and my country proud,” she said.
