Rosberg on song in Singapore

NICO Rosberg had never won the Singapore Grand Prix before, but this time he made sure of it, despite a race-long chase by Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton.

For a change the Mercedes cars and the Red Bull Renault’s were much closer on performance with Max Verstappen also high up in the field earlier on.

Ricciardo helped make it a very exciting finish and was only half a second behind at the chequered flag.

Sepang is a street track that encourages brake problems and both Rosberg and Hamilton had their share of brake maladies, but held on to keep their cars together to the finish.

Just outside the podium after a very good race was Kimi Raikkonen in the first Ferrari.

Behind him blazed the driver of the day, teammate Sebastian Vettel who brought the other Ferrari home in fifth place after starting at the back of the grid due to an engine and gearbox change.

Max Verstappen was next man home in sixth spot after a few problems but it was another good drive from the brilliant youngster.

Fernando Alonso, who finished eighth, also gave us a great drive in the still underperforming McLaren Honda (they have promised big changes and increased performance from the new car at the beginning of the next season – we can’t wait). It is sad that Jenson Button will be retiring from the team.
