PAUL Bunge won the comp at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday on 40 points.
In second was Greg Hornby on 39 points, followed by Smittie Stieger on 37 points.
Saturday saw Sanjay Singh and Yugeshen Naidoo win the Heritage Day comp on 49 points.
Runners-up were Cecelia Verster and Annie Stoppel on 46 points, on a count-out from Louis and Leana Klopper.
This coming Friday is the Fowl Friday Club Birthday Comp, followed by the Monthly Mug on Saturday and the Partners Par 3 day on Sunday.
‘Kids’ Day’ coming up at Southbroom
THERE will be a Kids’ Golf Day at Southbroom Golf Club on Sunday, October 30 at 2pm.
There’ll be a free clinic with Derek James, followed by nine holes of golf. Cost is R40 for the children, and R95 for parents who want to join.
The Famous 5 Club comp last Wednesday was won by Geraldine Treherne on 37 points, followed by Lorraine Cook on 35 points.
In a tie for third on 33 points were Di Morris and Jeanne Powell.
Malcolm Greenland won the men’s comp on 42 points, one ahead of Paul Lawson.
In third was Gordon Moody on 40 points, with Bruce Matthew and Colin Steyn both on 39 points.
Saturday’s women’s alliance was won by Shelley Myers, Sandy Luus, Michelle Davies and Mari Fielden on 89 points, by one from Geraldine Treherne, Janet Humphrey, Lizzie Currie and a ‘ghost’.
In the men’s section winners were Brian Richards, Mike Slade, Bob Thomas and Derek Lawrence on 94 points.
Runners-up were Nols Nolte, MJ Gouws, Johan Nieuwenhuizen and Phillip Coetzee on 93 points.
Third spot went to Joe Carolan, Olliver Ransome, Chris Miller and Vic Pretorius on 92 points.
The Par 3 Contest saw Julie Walker win on 21 points, followed by John Caple, Gerald Fitzgerald and Kerry Fielden all on 20 points.
On 19 points were Derrik Matthew, Gary Purtell and Nicky Smith.
Winner of the juniors was Evan Peyios, ahead of Sawyer Danforth.
Rest of the World pips locals at Margate CC
THERE was some Heritage Day fun at Margate Country Club last Saturday, with the Rest of the World team beating the South Africans by one game.
Leading point scorers were Colin Iddon and Eddie Davies on 45 points.
On 44 points were Keith Duncalf and John Ford, as well as Doug Johnston and Wonderboy Nxumalo.
Wondra Bothma won the women’s comp last Tuesday on 41 points, two ahead of Alicia Hilt.
The Wobblers’ comp was won by Piet Pretorius, Ken Norval and Alan Davies on 85 points.
In a tie for second on 84 points were Frank Merrill, Thys Bothma and Dave Morrison, as well as Hans Dallinger, Freddie Boshoff and Dolf Willemse.
Thursday’s comp was won by Louie Carreira on 41 points, two clear of John Ford and Mike Geiger.
