Injured biker takes top position
Despite a huge crash in the opening practice session, that left him battered and bruised, Clint Seller won the penultimate round of the 2016 SuperGP Champion's Trophy.
THE crowds that made their way to the South Coast Dezzi Raceway for the SuperGP Champion’s Trophy penultimate round of the 2016 season last Saturday were treated to some of the most exciting bike racing seen on a circuit for years. While the victors were familiar faces on the top step of the podium this season, they were all made to work for their wins.

Included in the event was the Tin Run Tour, an initiative that helped charities in the area by collecting donations of tinned food. Spectators assisted this venture by bringing tins of food to the circuit. In exchange, those spectators who arrive before 10am on race day were granted free admission to the circuit.
With just two outings left, the race for championship points heated up.
SuperGP championship leader Mathew Scholtz (ETR Nashua Yamaha R1) had finished on the podium in all but three of the 12 races held this year and had a 39-point lead over Clint Seller (Neolife Yamaha R1).

While Scholtz could not wrap up the championship at Dezzi, he was thrown into third position in a time of 1:12:740 with Clint Seller taking first position in a time of 1:12.376 and Greg Gildenhuys taking second position in a time of 1:14:45. Seller crashed hard in the opening practice session, but the Neolife Yamaha team managed to repair the damaged bike and he thanked them by taking pole position on a wet track.
Race day brought an improvement in the weather and there was no stopping the defending champion. He controlled things from the front and went on to a comfortable four-second win.
