Gary gets it ‘nearest’ at Margate CC

There have been some pretty good scores of late.

CONGRATULATIONS to Sandi Johnston, Beryl Williamson and Lizzie Meyer on winning last Tuesday’s women’s three-ball alliance at Margate CC after carding 47 points.

The Wobblers three-ball Stableford alliance on Wednesday was won by Dave Parsons, Jim Finn and Brian Jeffreys on 83 points. Rob Brien, Eddie Gommersall and Cyril Greensmith were second on 82 followed by Piet Pretorius, Andre Henn and Hanz Beilhartz on 76 after a count-out.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Andre du Plessis, Peter Rogers and Dieter Jucker with 68 pts.

Thursday’s individual Stableford competition sponsored by Margate Pro Shop was won by George Bowie on 41 points, followed by Johan Wentzel (40 pts) and Gary Smith (39 pts). Nearest the pin at the second, sponsored by Margate Pro Shop, was won by Fanie Terblanche, the 11th, sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages, went to Carlos Periera.

Doug Johnston and Derek Egerton combined to win the Saturday competition with 48 points. Anton Kohrmann and Gary Smith were runners-up on 47 pts after counting out Syd Naidoo and Leon Pillay. Gary Smith won both the nearest the pins prizes (seventh in two and 11th) sponsored by Margate Pro Shop.

The winners of Saturday’s Sandi’s Surprise Stableford alliance with 165 points were Sandi Johnston, Maureen Ogilvie, Evelyn Burls and Rene Paton, Jane Davies, Shannon Gottlieb, Julie Gerber and Alicia Hilt were second on 162 pts.
