Golfers ‘ride-out’ cold conditions at Southbroom

Candida Amm has had a superb week on the greens.

WINNING the women’s better ball Stableford competition at Southbroom on Wednesday, September 28 were Candida Amm and Lorraine Cook on 43 points followed by Margaret Sherratt and Jan Germs 41 pts. Geraldine Treherne and Janet Humphrey were third on 40 pts.

In the men’s competition, Gary Purtell and Colin Mckay took line honours with 47 points after counting out Geoff Skelton and Brian Hoggart. One shot behind were Gordon Moody and Kerry Fielden with 46.

Saturday’s combined Stableford saw women’s president Candida Amm in the prizes again after she and her fourball, Sandy Fitzgerald, Michelle Davies and ‘ghost’ came in with 89 points. Six points behind in second place were Geraldine Treherne, Jean Purtell, Janet Humphrey and Lorraine Cook with 83 pts.

In the men’s competition, Mike Jacquet, Geoff Skelton with brothers, Derrik and Bruce Matthew literally ‘walked it’ carding an impressive 96 points. Well back in second place with 64 were Malcolm Greenland, Bob Thomas, Dave Page and Cleve Walker.
