NOT many golfers like sand, but members at Southbroom Golf Club seem to have come to the conclusion that the new fairway bunker on the second hole has further enhanced the beauty of this hole.
It’s situated to catch the longer hitters, and especially those who play with a draw. “I know I’ll be in there a lot,” was one chirp.
Others said it “looked like it had always been part of the hole” while another said that it “framed the fairway just perfectly”.
The second shot could be interesting, especially into the wind. Out of bounds will no doubt come into play a lot more!

Meanwhile, in regular golf, Julie Walker and Geraldine Treherne won last Wednesday’s comp at Southbroom Golf Club on 46 points.
Four points behind were Sandy Fitzgerald and Sandy Luus, followed by Candida Amm and Di Morris on 41 points.
In the men’s comp, Norman Farrell and Don Osbourn cleaned up on 48 points, two ahead of Vic Pretorius and Jim Cook, as well as Roger Hissey and Roy Deakins.
