Lake Eland Mile celebrates a decade
This event has attracted current Olympians Michelle Weber, Chad Ho and Mathew Meyer.
SOUTH Coast Lake Eland Mile open water swim celebrates its 10th ‘birthday’ on Sunday, October 30.
This popular event is held annually at the Lake Eland Game Reserve in Oribi Gorge.
This Midmar Mile qualifier event has been an integral part of developing swimming from a fundamental level with the St Martin de Porres initiative being instrumental in uplifting swimming in the community.
On the elite side they have been developing national age group qualifiers for the past 20 years, with the South Coast Lake Eland Mile being the platform for supporting this and contributing towards its success.
This event has attracted current Olympians Michelle Weber, Chad Ho and Mathew Meyer as well past Olympian Troyden Prinsloo and many other international representatives.

Events on offer are:
Event 1: 8am: 3km – all ages.
Event 2: 9.30am: mile – girls 13/under – women 31/older – disability.
Event 3: 10.45am: mile – boys 13/under – men 31/older – disability
Event 4: 12.00pm: mile – women and men 14-30
Event 5: 1.15pm: 500m – fun/team swim

Cost of events 1 to 4 is R180 if received by October 20 or R230 on the day. Event 5 is R80 if received by October 20 or R100 on the day.
