Junior tennis coaching at Uvongo this Saturday
Club members are making every effort to give youngsters an opportunity to learn the game.
YOUTH development at Uvongo Tennis Club surges onwards.
Long-standing professional tennis coach in the region, Julia Christiansen, will preside over the sessions which will commence at the club this Saturday, October 21 at 11am.
Senior club member, Ali Majova, will bring up to 35 young people every Saturday morning for six weeks. Members who are willing to assist are welcome to join in the fun.
The application to Lotto for funds to resurface the courts lumbers on; and now requires a constitutional amendment before the application can be re-submitted.
The special general meeting will take place at the club on Saturday, October 29 at 2pm.
Members are earnestly enjoined to attend this very brief meeting.
Consideration is being given to the format of the popular annual seniors’ tournament which draws competitors from far-flung regions of the province.
Arrangements are in hand for the annual Christmas lunch, probably in November.
An approach will be made to Ugu Tourism to feature the club as a tourist attraction in the glossy magazine published at frequent intervals in the region.
An initial meeting was held with Ugu’s sports section with the object of advancing the game of tennis in the area.
Unfortunately Graham Neyt is not well; but Neil Perry is recovering after he lost a wrestling match with his motor cycle.
Long-standing member of class and distinction, Gloria Larkin, resigned her membership of the club.
Welcome to new members Ryan and Lenée Pollock, as well as Dalene Hanekom.
