NISSAN group models have again been ranked among the best in terms of parts affordability in this year’s Kinsey Report, earning podium places in three categories.
The report, which this year compared 69 vehicles, provides consumers with an independent and wide-ranging guide to the cost of buying parts for servicing, repairs and accidents.
The Datsun GO and Nissan Micra were tops for the second year running in the City Car and Entry Level category against a list of 11 contenders. The Datsun GO boasted the lowest service parts cost of any other model.
Nissan’s locally-produced pick-ups were among the top three overall in the single cab category, from a total of seven competitors.
Leading the pack is the half-ton NP200, a perennial best-seller, followed in third place by the one-ton NP300 Hardbody. Both models are the most affordable to service.
In the crossover category, in which there were 10 entrants, the Nissan X-Trail came second in parts servicing affordability.
Motoring journalist Malcolm Kinsey, who compiles the annual report, said the survey is especially useful for car owners whose vehicles are no longer covered by service or maintenance plans.
“As I stress every year, if you are costing your own vehicle parts it pays to shop around if you have more than one franchise dealer available,” he advised.
