Sandi and Lexley take top honours at Margate CC

IT was a good weekend (previous) for Liverpool, not so hot for Manchester United. After the draw with Liverpool, José said Man U only had 33 percent possession yet ‘controlled the game’.
Last Sunday United had 56 percent possession and lost 4-0 to Chelsea. Does that mean the less possession you have the better the chance of winning?
In regular golf news at Margate Country Club, Sandi Johnston and Lexley Lewis won the Connie Day comp last Tuesday on 43 points. Runners-up on 42 points were Maureen Ogilvie and Wondra Bothma.
Wobblers’ alliance was won by Jan Richter, Peter Rogers and Brian Jeffreys on 86 points. Second on 83 points were Otto Mutschler, Frank Merrill and Piet Pretorius.
In third on 82 points were Wimpie Jordaan, Konnie Konrad and Andrew Dickerson. The Arthur Tomlinson floater went to Dolf Willemse, Wayne Minnaar and André Henn on 75 points.
Thursday’s comp was won by David Jenkinson on 40 points, counting out Angus McLachlan. Wimpie Jordaan was third on 39 points.
Saturday’s comp was won by John Webster and Neil Townsend on 47 points, counting out Angus and Una McLachlan. In third were Graeme Massam and Mike Lee on 46 points.
The women’s comp was a Nassau combined Stableford. Front nine went to Chiappini Boshoff and Beryl Williamson on 24 points, and the back nine to Maureen Ogilvie and Barbara Jackson on 22 points.
Overall winners were Margaret Taylor and Jean Page on 44 points.
