Gavin Sole shoots 64 at Margate CC

Visiting golfers made merry at Margate Country Club.

THURSDAY’S comp at Margate Country Club saw Gavin Sole of Southbroom shoot 64, and this included a three-putt, as well as a ball in the hazard on the 10th, which led to a double drop.

He had 43 points to edge out Jason Gilliver of Umdoni Park by one.

Carlos Perreira was third on 41 points, with Derek Egerton next on 40 points.

Nearest the pins were Gavin Sole (4th), Chris Nel (11th).

Sandi Johnston, Margaret Taylor and Hannetjie Pretorius won last Tuesday’s comp on 45 points.

The Wobblers’ game was won on 91 points by Piet Pretorius, Otto Mutschler and Brian Jeffreys.

In second on 84 points were Wimpie Jordaan plus pivots.

In third on 83 points were Frank Merrill, Derek Egerton and Dave Parsons.

Fourth went to Rob Brien, Alan Robinson and James Tutt on 82 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Eddie Gommersall, Richard Plaskitt and Jon Brauteseth on 73 points.

Nearest the pin was Thys Bothma.

The club was co-host to the men’s Interclub which meant no regular Saturday comp.

The men’s teams did not really cover themselves in any excessive glory. Maybe next year.

In football news, Liverpool is still performing well. One or two potential banana skins in next few weeks, just keep everything crossed.
